Applying for a permanent resident card (PR Card) — Initial application, replacement or renewal (IMM 5445)

The application process

Obtain the application for a Permanent Resident Card through CIC’s website or by communicating with the Call Center. You must order the Supplementary Identification Form (IMM 5455) and the HPM Receipt Form (IMM 5401).
Gather all required documents, pay the fees through a financial institution or by using the Internet, fill out the application forms and mail the complete application to the Case Processing Centre (CPC) in Sydney.

Did you include the fee receipt and is the application complete?
 
 
 
 
 
 
If yes, application is processed and approved if you meet all the requirements. If no, your application is returned to you.
      
The appropriate CIC receives the PR card from the production facility.
 
 
 
 
 
 
CIC sends a letter advising you to pick up your card.  
      
  You must report to the local CIC to collect your card
Officer verifies your original documents, confirms that the data on the card is accurate and ensures photographic likeness. You sign an acknowledgement of receipt.
If you do not pick up the card at the Local CIC within 180 days, the card is returned to CPC-Sydney to be destroyed and file is considered abandoned, you will need to re‑apply.
