Frequently asked questions
What if I don't know the answer to a question?
In order for this questionnaire to help determine your eligibility, you must provide an answer to every question that is asked. If you do not know the answer to a question, you should exit the questionnaire and return when you have found the missing information.
What do my results mean? Does a positive result mean I can come to Canada?
Your results can help you select the right program, but is intended for general guidance and reference only.
If you decide to submit a formal application, the application will be considered by an immigration officer, in accordance with the requirements of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Any outcome you may have received through the Come to Canada wizard will not be considered by an immigration officer.
If any part of the Come to Canada wizard conflicts with any federal legislation (e.g. the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations), federal legislation will apply.
Where can I get more help in filling out my application?
Every program has an application package that consists of an instruction guide, and your required form(s). You will receive a personalized document checklist after you complete the questionnaire. This checklist will include an instruction guide and links to all of the required forms.
The instruction guide provides the information you must know about completing your application before sending it to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
Read the instruction guide thoroughly and then fill out each of the applicable form(s). The form(s) are specifically designed with questions that will assist the processing of your application.
I am still unsure if I am eligible for any programs. Where can I find more information?
We invite you to visit our website for more information on any of our temporary or permanent immigration programs. Every immigration program has a dedicated section called "Determine your eligibility" that details the eligibility requirements.
Can I save my results?
We encourage you to print the results once they appear on your screen. There is a print button on every result page.
I just realized that I made a mistake. How do I correct it?
Depending on where you made the mistake, you may wish to start over. When you receive your results, you will have an opportunity to modify your answers.
What is my personal document checklist?
If you are applying for a temporary resident immigration stream, you will receive a personal document checklist once you have answered all of the questions. It is a personalized list of all of the documents you will need to complete your application.
What is my personal checklist code?
If you are going to apply online, you will receive a personal checklist code. Your personal checklist code is a unique code assigned to your personal document checklist. You will need to enter this code to begin your online application. If you are applying on paper, you will not receive a personal checklist code.
Your personal checklist code is found at the top of your checklist. We recommend that you record this code and print a copy of your checklist. This code is only valid for 60 days from the date it is issued.
