When you have all your documents ready, you need to get an electronic credential which is called a key. A key is a unique electronic credential that allows you to securely access CIC’s online services.

1. Register to get a key if you are a new user.
2. Login to access your key if you are a returning user.

Once you are logged in with your key, you’ll be automatically directed to CIC’s online services called MyCIC.

You will be prompted to register for an account if you are a first time user. Returning users will be directed straight to their existing MyCIC account.

Enter your Personal Checklist Code

You will be asked to enter your Personal Checklist Code. A Personal Checklist Code is located at the top of your personal checklist and looks like this: QK4350881372

We will use this code to retrieve the list of documents that you need to submit with your application.

Once you have entered your personal checklist code, you will be guided through the following steps to complete your application:

1. Upload your documents
2. Review your application
3. Pay with a credit card
4. Submit your application

After you submit your payment, you will see a page that confirms that your application has been submitted. It will have more information on next steps. After you submit, you will also receive a confirmation message in your MyCIC account.
