Apply for an extension as a visitor
We are currently experiencing intermittent technical issues with MyCIC. Users may experience difficulties when attempting to access the system.
This application is for temporary residents who wish to extend their visit in Canada.
To access an unsubmitted online application, log onto MyCIC directly.
Step 1 – Assess your eligibility
- Determine if you are eligible by using our Visitor Self-Assessment Tool or reviewing the eligibility criteria.
Step 2 – Get your supporting documents
- Ensure you have the documents that you need before applying online.
Step 3 – Register for or log into MyCIC
- You need a MyCIC account only if you are submitting an online application.
- If you have submitted your application on paper and you wish to check your status, you do not need a MyCIC account.
Login if you already have a MyCIC user ID and password.
Register if you are a new user.
