Backgrounder - Funding for youth initiatives and settlement services in schools and libraries in Toronto
The Government of Canada wants to help newcomers succeed. To help newcomers and their families settle in the City of Toronto, the Government of Canada is committing more than $36 million to place settlement workers in libraries and schools, as well as to fund organizations that provide settlement services for youth.
The funding is provided under the Canada-Ontario Immigration Agreement. Listed below are the agencies that will receive a portion of the $36 million announced today.
- Catholic Cross-Cultural Services: $4,325,740
- Centre for Information and Community Services of Ontario: $2,575,207
- Centre Francophone de Toronto: $615,177
- CultureLink Settlement Services: $1,724,903
- North York Community House: $3,379,461
- Thorncliffe Neighbourhood Office: $6,717,229
- Jewish Family and Child Services: $1,658,148
- University Settlement Recreation Centre: $271,717
- Vietnamese Association of Toronto — Youth: $130,851
- Scadding Court Community Centre: $128,387
