Backgrounder - Announcement of settlement funding to help newcomers settle in Kitchener-Waterloo
The Government of Canada wants to help newcomers succeed. To help newcomers settle in Kitchener-Waterloo, the Government of Canada is committing more than $8.4 million to five organizations that provide settlement services to immigrants in the Kitchener-Waterloo area.
The funding is provided under the Canada-Ontario Immigration Agreement (COIA). Listed below are the organizations receiving a portion of the $8.4 million in today’s announcement:
- YMCA of Kitchener-Waterloo: $4,330,299
- Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre: $411,306
- English at First: $848,065
- Waterloo Catholic District School Board: $2,861,477
- Conestoga College Institute of Technology: $36,539
