Backgrounder - Appointment and Reappointments to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada
Luella Gaultier
Prior to her appointment to the Board, Ms. Gaultier was manager of bridging programs for immigrant professionals at the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers. She was also a sessional co-instructor at Concordia University College in Edmonton, and worked as a program manager for the refugee sponsorship initiatives of the Catholic Social Services’ Immigration and Settlement Service in Edmonton. She received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Alberta. In October 2005, Ms. Gaultier was presented with a Citation for Citizenship national award.
Michelle Langelier
Prior to her initial appointment to the Board on January 15, 2007, Ms. Langelier practised immigration and refugee law in Montréal. She has represented clients before all three divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. Ms. Langelier received her Bachelor of Laws from Laval University. She has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1992.
Marie-Claude Paquette
Prior to her initial appointment to the Board on January 15, 2007, Ms. Paquette practised law with the Immigration Division of the Department of Justice. She also worked as a refugee protection officer with the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada and began her career with her own private practice working exclusively in refugee and immigration law. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Law from Carleton University and her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Montreal. She has been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1998.
Kenneth MacLean
Prior to his initial appointment to the Board on January 2, 2007, Mr. MacLean was Vice-Chair and member with the Ontario Health Professions Appeal and Review Board. He also worked as Director, Corporate Planning and Performance Management with the Alberta Ministry of Community Development. Mr. MacLean received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba.
