Backgrounder - Appointment and reappointment to the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada (IRB)
Philippe Doré
Prior to his appointment to the IRB, Mr. Doré was most recently a consultant for Métis Nation British Columbia. He has also worked as a consultant for Canadian Heritage as Chairperson of the Advisory Committee for National Gatherings on Aboriginal Traditional Knowledge and as Executive Director of the Ministerial Task Force on Aboriginal Languages and Cultures. Mr. Doré has held the position of Director General, Aboriginal Affairs with Canadian Heritage. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Public Administration from Queen’s University, and a Master of Arts from the University of Western Ontario.
Anna Maria Silvestri
Anna Maria Silvestri was initially appointed to the IRB on September 8, 1998. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Silvestri was a self-employed researcher focusing on subjects relating to municipal law, municipal taxation and realty assessment. She worked as a municipal law instructor at the Collège de l’Assomption and as a researcher for the Bureau de Révision de l’Évaluation Foncière du Québec (the Quebec property assessment review office). She also worked as a legal aid consultant in the Montreal offices of FILEF, an Italian federation for emigrant workers and families. Ms. Silvestri received a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws from the Université du Québec.
