We’ve changed our site to make it easier for you to find the information you need.
Our new look
You may notice that all Government of Canada websites are changing to this new look, but it’s more than just a new look—it’s about helping you find the information you need in a consistent way across all Government of Canada websites.
For example, the grey section at the bottom of each page contains links to information on the department. Go there to learn about CIC’s mandate and minister and to read our latest news. It also tells you how to contact us online and how you can stay connected with us online.
Browsing the CIC site
Our main menu has moved to the top of the page. There, you will find links to our most requested information and services in the following categories: Immigrate, Visit, Work, Study, Citizenship, New immigrants, Canadians, and My Application. When you select a category, you’ll find specific information about that subject.
We’ve done this to help you find the information you need, quickly.
Using your location to improve your experience
We understand that different visitors to the site have different needs, so we have created different homepages based on your location. The new site determines whether you are in Canada or outside Canada and will automatically direct you to the right homepage. At any time, you have the option to switch to either the in-Canada or the international homepage.
Browsing within a section
Within each category, you’ll see a menu on the left side of the screen. That menu is unique to each section and contains helpful links to different pages related to your topic.
Looking for more?
At the bottom of most pages, we’ve added links to information that you might find helpful, based on the information on each page
Can’t find the answer you need?
We have created a Help Centre where you can find answers to the most frequently asked questions. You can find out how to check your application status, replace a permanent resident card, extend your stay in Canada, and much more. There are over 500 questions to choose from, and you can also look up terms in the CIC glossary. It’s just another way we’re helping you find the information you need.
Help us improve our site
At different places in the site, we have posted short surveys that ask you to rate the quality of the information. If you see one of these surveys, please take a moment to tell us how we did and how we can serve you better.
