ARCHIVED – Notice – Closure of the visa office in Prague

November 15, 2013 — Effective immediately, the Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) visa office in the Czech Republic (Prague) is closed. This closure is due to the lifting of the temporary resident visa requirement for Czech nationals.

If you are a national from a visa-required country living in the Czech Republic, you can submit your visitor visa application to the Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Prague

If you are a resident of the Czech Republic or a Czech national, you can continue to submit your study permit, work permit or permanent resident travel document applications using the VAC in Prague. Visit the CIC website for more information on Visa Application Centres (VACs), which are managed by private companies or international organizations. You can also submit your visitor visa, study or work permit application online. Find out how to apply online.

Applications for permanent residence continue to be processed by the Embassy of Canada in Vienna.

Each year, CIC evaluates its network of immigration offices and explores ways of doing business more effectively. By moving processing to where capacity exists and centralizing some of this work, we can reduce our overseas network.
