Ottawa, May 8 2017— The Government of Canada is committed to family reunification. The number of applications accepted for intake in the Parents and Grandparents Program was doubled from 5,000 to 10,000. The new random selection process is more fair and transparent for applicants and improves access to the application process.
We recently emailed those who had completed an Interest to Sponsor web form for the Parents and Grandparents Program. During the email transmissions, we encountered some technical issues for a small number of people – mostly those who chose to share the same email address on their web form as other applicants. For example, family members using the same email address or multiple individuals with the same immigration representative using the same email address. The technical issues have nothing to do with the actual random selection process.
The 10,000 individuals who were selected to apply have been sent an email to provide them with an individual barcode, along with the same unique Confirmation Number they received after completing the Interest to Sponsor web form. The email containing the barcode should be printed and placed on top of the application package. Find more information about how to prepare your application.
If you’ve already submitted your application to us, you don’t need to take any further action.
