News Release - Citizenship Judge Appointment
OTTAWA, November 24, 2006 — The Honourable Monte Solberg, Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, announced today the appointment of one citizenship judge.
Ray Lee is a senator at the University of Calgary Senate where he serves on the Honorary Degrees Committee. Active in the Chinese community, he is the current honorary director of the Sien Lok Society of Calgary. Mr. Lee has worked as an economist with Imperial Oil and has had a career in real estate as an independent developer. He has also worked as a consultant to various energy companies and government agencies in the sulphur industry.
Citizenship judges are appointed by order-in-council and are responsible for making decisions with regard to applications, presiding over citizenship ceremonies and administering the oath of citizenship to new citizens.
