News Release – Minister Kenney announces new Citizenship Judge appointment

Ottawa, June 22, 2010 — Georgette Roy has been appointed as a Citizenship Judge in Fredericton, New Brunswick, for a three-year part-time term, Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today.

Prior to her appointment, Judge Roy was most recently Chair of the Board of Directors of Service New Brunswick. She also was Executive Director of the NB Liquor Licensing Board for over a decade. Judge Roy is actively involved in her community where she does charitable work with the Kidney Foundation and homeless shelters in Fredericton. She is also the Past President of the Epsilon Y’s Menettes, a YMCA group in Fredericton, for which she currently coordinates two projects. She is fluently bilingual.

Citizenship judges are responsible for making decisions with regard to citizenship applications, presiding over citizenship ceremonies and administering the oath of citizenship to new citizens.
