News Release – Government of Canada supports “Un rythme, un monde” event in Brampton

Brampton, February 24, 2011 — Bob Dechert, Member of Parliament for Mississauga—Erindale, today announced support for the “Un rythme, un monde” (One rhythm, one world) taking place as part of Black History Month celebrations at the Central Public High School in Brampton, Ontario.

“By supporting festivals like this one, we help showcase the diversity of our country, and the many talents of younger Canadians,” said MP Dechert on behalf of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney.

The Centre culturel de ressources francophone pour les communautés ethniques (CEREFRAC) is receiving $13,500 for the event under Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Inter-Action program.

“The Government of Canada is delivering significant funds to people from various cultural backgrounds to create opportunities for different cultural and faith communities to build bridges and help them to integrate with all communities,” added MP Dechert.

The festival, which will take place February 26 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Central Public High School of Brampton, is open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to attend.  Activities will include workshops, a traditional African fashion show, a concert and an evening gala aimed at linking approximately 200 participants from different religions and cultures.
