News Release – Government of Canada supports “Position as Desired,” a symposium exploring African Canadian Identity

Toronto, March 1, 2011 — Senator Don Meredith today announced support for the “Position as Desired,” a symposium exploring African Canadian Identity taking place at the Royal Ontario Museum.

“By funding events like this one, we help create opportunities for different cultural and faith communities to build bridges,” said Senator Meredith on behalf of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney.

Wedge Curatorial Projects is receiving $8,908 for the event under Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Inter-Action program.

“The Inter-Action program ensures that communities are able to celebrate their diversity, while promoting integration of all Canadians,” added Senator Meredith.

The symposium, which will take place March 5 from 9 am to 4 pm at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, is open to the public. For more information, please visit www.wedgecuratorialprojects.org. Everyone is encouraged to attend.
