News Release – Government of Canada supports Asian Heritage Awareness Day

Milton, July 26, 2011 — The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Labour, and Member of Parliament for Halton, today announced financial support for the Asian Heritage Awareness Day at Milton Fairground.

By funding festivals like this, we help showcase the diversity of our country, and the many talents of younger Canadians,” said Minister Raitt on behalf of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

The Virsa Foundation is receiving $14,200 for the event under Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s Inter-Action program.

With this support from the Inter-Action program, events such as this celebrate this community’s diversity along with the contributions of Asian Canadians to the growth and prosperity of Canada,” said Minister Raitt.

The festival will take place on July 30 at the Milton Fairground and is open to the public.
