September 2008 – Elaine holds a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. In September 2007, she immigrated to Canada from the Philippines in search of opportunity.

November 2007 – At the age of 12, Arash and his family fled Kabul when the Communist government collapsed. Engulfed by civil conflict, Afghanistan became a less than ideal place to raise a family or pursue an education.

July 2007 – In the spring of 2006, the Off-Campus Work Permit Program was introduced. For Fan, a student at Camosun College in Victoria, British Columbia, it was a very welcome change.
