Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is responsible for overseeing immigration-related health management programs. This includes designating and managing the medical practitioners who perform immigration medical examinations, both in Canada and abroad.

Designated medical practitioners (DMPs) play an important role in the immigration process and help CIC protect the health of Canadians by performing immigration medical examinations. All DMPs appointed by CIC to perform immigration medical examinations must accept certain responsibilities and adhere to standards of professional conduct.
