Revoking citizenship

Your Canadian Citizenship may be revoked (taken away) if you have:

If your citizenship is revoked for these reasons, you will be barred from being granted citizenship for 10 years.

Your Canadian citizenship may also be revoked if you are a dual citizen and have:

If your citizenship is revoked for these reasons, you will be permanently barred from being granted citizenship.

Note: CIC does not accept applications for renunciation of Canadian citizenship if you are subject to revocation of citizenship proceedings (i.e. if your citizenship is already in the process of being revoked).
