Why aren’t you accepting applications under the Federal Entrepreneur Program?
Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has temporarily stopped accepting applications because the program needs to be redesigned. Originally designed in the 1970’s, the Federal Entrepreneur Program has not kept pace with changing economic needs.
Stopping applications temporarily will also help reduce CIC’s backlog of applications in this category. Current wait times are six to eight years. CIC will keep processing existing applications while reviewing the program.
The Department is now consulting with stakeholders on a possible new “Start Up Visa” for immigrant entrepreneurs.
