Will I get my application fee back if I did not apply online before November 5, 2011?
You may have paid your fees online or through a financial institution (such as a bank) before November 5, 2011, without sending a parent or grandparent sponsorship application first. If so, you must contact Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) to request a refund. Unfortunately, CIC cannot process a refund automatically.
There is now a temporary pause on parent and grandparent sponsorship applications. As a result, CIC is sending back any such applications it gets after November 5, 2011. If you are in this situation, you can ask for a refund by:
- e-mail at HPM.Prod@cic.gc.ca or
- mail at

Note: In your request for a refund, include the following information:
- payer's name,
- Canadian mailing address,
- payer's telephone number,
- reason for the refund request, and
- one of the receipts stamped by the bank.
