Who has to take the citizenship test?

If you are between 18 and 54 years old, you must take the citizenship test. The test will assess your adequate knowledge of Canada, and of the responsibilities and privileges citizenship. It will also be used, in part, to determine whether you have an adequate knowledge of English or French.

If you are 55 years of age or older, you do not have to take the test. Children who are under the age of 18 at the time of application do not have to take the test either.
