I do not need a visa to enter Canada. Can I benefit from the super visa anyway?
Yes. If you are from a country whose citizens do not need a visa to enter Canada, you are eligible for a parent and grandparent super visa. For instance, citizens from countries like the United States, France or the United Kingdom could apply for a super visa.
To apply for one, you need to:
- apply for a temporary resident visa (no fee required) at a Canadian visa office;
- undergo a medical examination;
- provide proof that you have Canadian medical insurance valid for a minimum of one year; and
- provide the supporting documents required, including
- proof of your relationship to a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, and
- proof that he or she will support you financially during your stay in Canada.
If you meet all the criteria, you will get a letter. Present it to a border services officer when you arrive in Canada. The officer may authorize your visit to Canada for up to two years.
