Why are you no longer accepting new Immigrant Investor Program applications?
CIC has decided to issue a temporary pause on new federal Immigrant Investment Program applications in order to manage existing inventory pressures. There are around 86,000 people in the inventory waiting for a decision on their application, which at current levels represents more than 10 years’ worth of processing. In spite of increases to the personal net worth and investment amount in December 2010, global demand for Canada’s Immigrant Investment Program is still strong.
The temporary pause on new applications will give the Department the necessary time to tackle the existing backlog and to consult with stakeholders on ways to improve the program. Note that this temporary pause does not affect Quebec-selected investors.
