Have you raised the language requirement for citizenship?

No. Adequate knowledge of English or French is one of the legal requirements for citizenship. This requirement has not changed. What has changed is that we have a more objective definition of what is needed.

Getting Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB)/Niveau de compétence linguistique canadien (NCLC) level 4 in speaking and listening shows you have adequate knowledge.

If you have level Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB)/Niveau de compétence linguistique canadien (NCLC) level 4, then you can take part in routine conversations about everyday topics, use basic grammatical structures and tenses, and have enough vocabulary for basic oral communication.
