Why will I need to go in person to have my fingerprints and photograph taken each time I apply?

By giving your fingerprints and photograph in person each time you apply for a visitor visa or permit, CIC can make sure that no one else can use your identity to apply. It offers a reliable check to help visa officers establish your identity with greater confidence. If you plan on visiting Canada often, you are encouraged to apply for a multiple-entry visa. If you get a multiple-entry visa after the biometric requirement comes into effect, you will only need to provide your biometrics when you first apply for this visa. You would not need to give your biometric information again until you make a new visa application.
