What is a “third-party language test”?
This is a test that will show if your language skills meet our standards in each of these four categories:
- listening,
- speaking,
- reading and
- writing.
There are agencies “designated” to give the tests. This means they are approved to do so by CIC.
You will need to take the test to apply under any of these permanent immigration programs:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program
- Canadian Experience Class
- Federal Skilled Trades Program
The standard you need to meet depends on the program you apply under. You will then need to include the results when you apply.
You can arrange to take a language test from any of the approved agencies. You will have to pay the cost to write the test.
