How will the Immigrant Investor Venture Capital Fund be managed?
The application period for the Immigrant Investor Venture Capital (IIVC) Pilot Program is closed. The Department is not accepting applications at this time.
Each investment of CDN $2 million will be placed in the IIVC Fund.
This will be an at-risk investment, meaning that it will not be guaranteed. The investment will be committed for approximately 15 years.
The capital amount of the IIVC Fund will be distributed among up to five fund managers. The money will ultimately be invested in innovation-based Canadian companies headquartered outside Quebec.
As with any other venture capital investment, immigrant investors could receive proceeds over time or at the end of the investment term. Proceeds will depend on the fund's performance and will be based on its gains or losses, including expenses and fees incurred to manage it.
Each investment of CDN $2 million made by immigrant investors will be fully at-risk, meaning there is no guarantee that any amount will be paid to them.
