Canadian Experience Class
The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) allows many temporary foreign workers and foreign students who graduated in Canada to apply to stay permanently in the country.
- Processing times: Most cases are finalized in about 15 months.
- The foreign worker/student is responsible for the application process.
- CEC applicants can work in Canada while their application is processed
Temporary foreign workers who have worked for two years in Canada in a managerial, professional or technical capacity, including those in the skilled trades, are eligible to apply for permanent residence through the CEC.
Foreign students who have graduated with a qualifying Canadian degree, diploma or skilled trade credential are also eligible. In addition to their Canadian education credential, they must also have one year of Canadian work experience in a managerial, professional or technical capacity, including those in the skilled trades. They may gain this work experience by applying for a Post-Graduation Work Permit after they have completed their studies.
Applicants must meet the required language threshold for their occupation.
