Application fees
If you are applying at an office outside Canada
You can find out how to pay your fees at the visa office that serves your country of residence or nationality. Visa and consular offices cannot accept receipts for fees paid in Canada.

We cannot accept personal cheques as payment.
If you are applying at an office in Canada
Notes
- If you are a federal skilled worker, federal skilled tradesperson, or a federal investor, you must send payment to the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada. You cannot pay online.
- This section applies to Quebec-Haiti Humanitarian Sponsorship applications.
1. You can pay your fees online
If you are completing an online application, the online payment service will allow you to pay after submitting your application. You do not need to go through the steps below.
You will need:
- PDF Reader software
- a printer
- a Visa®, MasterCard® or American Express® credit card, and
- a valid email address.
When you are finished, print a receipt of payment and include it with your application.
2. You can pay fees at a financial institution in Canada
If you cannot or do not want to pay online, you must get an original receipt of payment form IMM 5401 so you can pay at a financial institution (such as a bank or Western Union). This form is not available online. You must order an original receipt by mail.
You must include a copy of this receipt when you apply.

Note
Do not send other payment types (such as a bank draft or money order) with your application. Your application will be returned.
