How to get a Police Certificate:

If you are a citizen of China (People’s Republic of):

If you live in Taiwan:

If you live in Taipei, you need to apply through the Taipei City Police Department. You may apply online, in person, or by mail or fax. Please consult the Taipei City Police Department website for downloadable application forms and detailed instructions, including required documentation and applicable fees.

Persons living in other parts of Taiwan would apply at the City Police Department at their place of residence.

If you live outside of Taiwan:

Information and documents you need:

  • For Republic of China (ROC) citizens: The original ROC ID and one copy of ID card or the original household certificate or the transcript of household registration issued within past one month.
  • For China, Hong Kong & Macau citizens: an original Exit & Entry Permit for Taiwan Area of the Republic of China or a Permanent Resident Certificate.
  • For Foreign Nationals: Copy of the passport, the Alien Resident Certificate (ARC) (if they are/were ARC holders) or other documents for verification.
  • If the English version is needed, please present one copy of passport (including the page with English name).
  • To apply from outside Taiwan via mail:

    Provide one completed application form with a copy of the passport or an Alien Resident Certificate that is authenticated or notarized by ROC embassies or consulates, Straits Exchange Foundation or other relevant notary public abroad. Include the fee and a self-addressed return registered mail envelope to:

Special notes and considerations:

Do I need to provide a Police Certificate for Express Entry?

Yes. If you are Invited to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence, you need to upload a police certificate in your Electronic Application for Permanent Residence (e-APR). Please follow the instructions above to get your police certificate.

Note: CIC will not accept police certificates sent by mail for Express Entry applications.
