How to obtain a police certificate - Albania

How to get a Police Certificate: You can go to any branch of the post office in Albania to fill out a form with details such as your first and last name, date of birth, residence address and, if applicable, your maiden name (if the Police Certificate is requested under your maiden name). The Post Office will send the request to the General Directorate of Prisons.  Police Certificates can be collected where the request was submitted.

If you live outside of Albania:
  1. You may delegate a relative to submit a Police Certificate application on your behalf at the closest post office branch.
  2. You must go to the Albanian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence.

If you are not a citizen of Albania:

If you live in Albania:

See above on “How to get a Police Certificate”.  In addition, you must submit a copy of a valid Albanian Residence Permit.

If you live outside of Albania:
  1. Evidence (such as a previous work permit or a residence permit) of your previous legal stay in Albania is requested.  A friend or former work colleague may assist in presenting an application on your behalf. 
  2. You must go to the Albanian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence with documents attesting to previous residence in Albania.
