Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?
Yes.
Any person can apply for an Official Certificate of Good Conduct (HATÓSÁGI ERKÖLCSI BIZONYITVÁNY), independently of citizenship.

If you live in Hungary
Applications for an Official Certificate of Good Conduct can be submitted:
- By mail: The application form and instructions are available at post offices in Hungary. The completed application form must be sent with the payment (postal order) by registered mail to the following address:

- Applications can also be submitted electronically by using the Client Gate. (Fee payment: by bank transfer to the Central Office for Administrative and Electronic Public Services’ bank account: 10023002-01451935-00000000)
OR - Priority service (1 to 5 working days): If you need priority service, applications can be submitted in person at the Client Service Centre of the Criminal Records Authority (Address: 1097 Budapest, Vaskapu utca 30/A) during opening hours.

Please contact the nearest Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary through the foreign representations abroad.
