How to Get a Police Certificate – Norway

Do I need to provide a Police Certificate with my Application for Permanent Residence? Yes.

How to get a Police Certificate:

If you are a citizen of Norway:

If you live in Norway:

You should apply at your local police station.

If you live outside of Norway:

You should send a written request to the police station of the district where you last lived in Norway.

If you are not a citizen of Norway:

If you live in Norway:

You should apply at your local police station.

If you live outside of Norway:

You should send a written request to the police station of the district where you last lived in Norway.

Information and documents you need:

  • A completed application form (GP5168B)
  • Your personal identification card number (personnummer)
  • A copy of your birth certificate
  • A copy of your driver’s license
  • A copy of your passport and other identification papers
  • Applicable fees

Special notes and considerations

Do I need to provide a Police Certificate for Express Entry?

Yes. If you are Invited to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence, you need to upload a police certificate in your Electronic Application for Permanent Residence (e-APR). Please follow the instructions above to get your police certificate.

Note: CIC will not accept police certificates sent by mail for Express Entry applications.
