Inter-Action, Canada’s Multiculturalism Grants and Contribution Program, is administered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
The Program supports CIC’s mandate and the Canadian Multiculturalism Act by assisting the socio-economic integration of individuals and communities and their contributions to building an integrated and socially cohesive society.
There are two Inter-Action funding streams: Events and Projects.
The Inter-Action Events stream provides funding to community-based events that foster one or more of the following:
- Intercultural/interfaith understanding
- Civic memory and pride
- Respect for core democratic values
The primary intention is to create concrete opportunities for interaction among cultural and faith communities. Events should be intended for and open to all Canadians.
For details on how to apply see:
Completed applications must be sent electronically to the regional office where the event would be held. Applications are accepted year round.
Note: If you have issues with the form and are using Chrome, Safari or Firefox, please to turn off the default browser reader. There should be no issues if you are using Internet Explorer.
In 2015, Canada will welcome 41 countries and territories of the Americas and the Caribbean, as Toronto and the Greater Golden Horseshoe will host the 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games.
Under the Government of Canada’s Federal Cultural Strategy, CIC has committed to funding events related to the 2015 Games through the Inter-Action Events Program. Activities and events will be organized across the country leading up to and during the Games.
Please refer to the Inter-Action Events Funding Guidelines to find out if your event meets the Program criteria. If it does and you are interested in federal funding, please complete and send the Inter-Action Events General Application Form to the CIC office in the region where your event will be held.
Be sure to indicate within the application form if your event is related to the Pan or Parapan American Games.
The Inter-Action Projects stream provides funding for long-term, multi-year community development and engagement projects, with the aim of fostering an integrated, socially-cohesive society.
See Proactive Disclosure for project proposals which have received funding of over $25,000.
