Inter-Action, Canada’s Multiculturalism Grants and Contribution Program, is administered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).
The Program supports CIC’s mandate and the Canadian Multiculturalism Act by assisting the socio-economic integration of individuals and communities and their contributions to building an integrated and socially cohesive society.
There are two Inter-Action funding streams: Projects and Events.
The Inter-Action Events stream provides funding to community based events that foster one or more of the following:
- Intercultural/interfaith understanding
- Civic memory and pride
- Respect for core democratic values
The primary intention is to create concrete opportunities for interaction among cultural and faith communities. Events should be intended for and open to all Canadians.

The Inter-Action Projects stream provides funding for long-term, multi-year community development and engagement projects. The projects should promote an integrated, socially-cohesive society while targeting elements such as:
- intercultural/ interfaith understanding;
- respect for democratic values; or
- civic memory and pride.
Project proposals are generally received through a Call For Proposals process. The Call for Proposals, under the Inter-Action Projects stream for 2010-2011, is closed. See Proactive Disclosure for project proposals which received funding over $25,000.
