Inter-Action: Multiculturalism Grants and Contributions Funding

Inter-Action, Canada’s Multiculturalism Grants and Contribution Program, is administered by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

The Program supports CIC’s mandate and the Canadian Multiculturalism Act by assisting the socio-economic integration of individuals and communities and their contributions to building an integrated and socially cohesive society.

There are two Inter-Action funding streams: Events and Projects.

Inter-Action Events

Important notice: CIC has increased the Inter-Action support available for each multiculturalism event. Eligible events may now receive up to $25,000 in Inter-Action funding.

The Inter-Action Events stream provides funding to community-based events that foster one or more of the following:

  • Intercultural/interfaith understanding
  • Civic memory and pride
  • Respect for core democratic values

The primary intention is to create concrete opportunities for interaction among cultural and faith communities. Events should be intended for and open to all Canadians.

For details on how to apply see:

Completed applications must be sent electronically to the CIC regional office where the event would be held. Applications are accepted year round.

Note: If you have issues with the form and are using Chrome, Safari or Firefox, please turn off the default browser reader. There should be no issues if you are using Internet Explorer.

Inter-Action Projects

The Inter-Action Projects stream provides funding for long-term, multi-year community development and engagement projects, with the aim of fostering an integrated, socially-cohesive society.

See Proactive Disclosure for project proposals which have received funding of over $25,000.
