Proof of Citizenship for British Home Children

Some Home Children have experienced difficulty in obtaining information required to establish proof of their Canadian citizenship.

Sometimes, you need to prove that you are a Canadian citizen in order to:

• vote;
• obtain a passport;
• obtain a driver’s licence, an enhanced driver’s licence or enhanced identity card;
• get a job; or
• access government services such as health care or a pension, or to obtain a Social Insurance Number.
