Application forms for study permits, work permits and temporary resident visas are being updated on May 4, 2013. If you are submitting your application online after May 4, 2013, please go back into your application to download and complete the new application form. Forms downloaded before May 4th will not upload to MyCIC.
You can apply online for some types of application. To find out if you can use this online service, select the application type you wish to apply for.
Temporary residence
The following application types are available to apply online:

- Work permit – new or extend
- Study permit – new or extend
- Visitor visa
- Extend your stay as a visitor
If the application type you wish to apply for is not available in this list, you can submit a paper application.
To apply online, follow these steps:
Step 1 – Assess your eligibility
- Determine if you may be eligible to apply.
Step 2 – Register or log in
To apply online, you will need to:
- Register or log in using GCKey or Sign In Partner (SecureKey Concierge); and
- Register or log into MyCIC
You need a MyCIC account only if you are submitting an online application. If you have submitted your application on paper and you wish to check your status, you do not need a MyCIC account.
Permanent residence
At this time, online applications are not available for permanent residence applications.
