Audit of the Immigration Program
Canadian Consulate General – Seattle
3.1. Organization
The IPM is supported by one other CBO, and four locally engaged program officers. The CBOs and the DIOs each have a dedicated program assistant; however, the NIO does not. The program assistants, registry supervisor and receptionist-clerk are able to provide support to the NIO when their duties permit.
The staff work well together, and all staff members have adequate cross-training and backup capabilities. The audit findings corroborate the IPM’s positive assessment of the employees’ performance.
Communication within the office is managed effectively. Officers meet every two weeks to discuss priorities and areas of concern, and general staff meetings are held once a month. Support staff members meet less frequently, in the presence of the IPM, to discuss operational issues. The IPM ensures that there are adequate avenues for employees to approach her with any concerns they may have.
