Audit of the Immigration Program
Canadian Consulate General – Seattle
6.0 Cost recovery
The Seattle Mission’s 2000-01 cost recovery revenue was approximately $2.9 million, which represents a 10 percent increase over the previous fiscal year. Right of Landing Fees account for approximately 40 percent of the total revenue collected, but only 7 percent of the number of transactions conducted in Seattle. Visitor visas account for 49 percent of the total revenue and close to 80 percent of the transactions at the Mission.
The audit focused on the assessment of the Seattle Mission’s cost recovery control framework. We found no evidence of incorrect fees, loss of public funds or misuse of documents. The recommended improvements will further strengthen the cost recovery framework.
