7.5. Destruction of Immigration Control Forms

CIC introduced new IMM-SEALS at the start of the 2001-02 fiscal year. As of November 27, 2001, the Seattle Mission still had (section removed) old IMM-SEALS on hand awaiting destruction. The FCO advised that it is difficult to find a local company that can safely destroy these plastic seals. It is possible that the seals will have to be sent to Ottawa for destruction, if the FCO is unable to find a suitable firm in Seattle. IMM 1000-CONs, IMM 1442s and IMM 1263s that have been voided or ruined during a print run are destroyed, following recommended procedures, (section removed).

Recommendations

16. The Seattle Mission should find a local company, as soon as possible, to destroy the old IMM-SEALS or forward them to Ottawa for destruction.

Management Response

Management agrees with the recommendation. All the old IMM-SEALS were forwarded to Ottawa for destruction.
