2.0 BACKGROUND

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has approximately 4,200 employees in one hundred national, regional and local offices across Canada and at 65 locations abroad. These include inland offices, case processing centres, ports of entry (for example, Pearson International Airport), and missions abroad, including high commissions, consulates and embassies. In addition, 982 locally engaged staff are employed by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) at the missions abroad to provide immigration support.
