New Version of IMM 1262 (Acknowledgement of Conditions)

Issue

Implementation of the new version of the IMM 1262.

Background

The IMM 1262 (Acknowledgement of Conditions; often referred to as ‘Terms and Conditions’) is the form used by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) when imposing conditions on permanent residents and foreign nationals.

Since early 2008, CIC and the CBSA have been reviewing current practices to streamline the refugee claim intake process. It was determined that the IMM 1262 was in need of revision.

The revised IMM 1262 contains numerous improvements. Key changes include:

  • The requirement not to violate any Act of Parliament;
  • The addition of the CBSA as a point of contact for reporting important events or obtaining authorizations;
  • The requirement to report as directed for the making of removal arrangements; and
  • The addition of a signature section in which interpreters (if used) must declare faithful and accurate interpretation with respect to the information on the form.

Release of the updated version of IMM 1262

The new version of the IMM 1262 is to be implemented immediately. As a transitory measure, persons issued a previous version prior to publication of this operational bulletin need not be issued the new version.
