Closure of the Visa Office in Belgrade and Transfer of Temporary Resident Services

Summary

The purpose of this Operational Bulletin is to provide information regarding the closure of the Belgrade visa office and the transfer of temporary resident services.

Background

Effective immediately, the Visa and Immigration Section of the Canadian Embassy in Belgrade is closed to the public and temporary resident services have been transferred to the Canadian Embassy in Vienna.

Instructions

Temporary Resident Processing

Persons residing in… Applications should be submitted to…
Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina Visa Office in Vienna (Austria) OR in person at a Visa Application Centre or visa office that serves another country to which they have been legally admitted

Temporary Resident Applications in-Process

Temporary resident applications currently in process in Belgrade will be transferred to Vienna where they will be processed to completion. Applicants will be contacted directly with regard to the status of their application.

Permanent Resident Processing

New Applications

New Federal Skilled Worker, Quebec Skilled Worker, Provincial Nominee Program, Investor Program and Canadian Experience Class applications should continue to first be submitted to the Centralized Intake Office, Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada.

New Family Class applications should continue to first be submitted to the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.

Applications that receive positive eligibility will continue to be sent to the visa office in Vienna for further processing.

External Client Enquiries

During the transition period, all efforts will be made to minimize processing delays. We ask that applicants and their representatives avoid contacting the visa office during this time. Applicants will be contacted by the visa office as soon as processing of their application is complete.

Returning Permanent Residents

Returning permanent residents are encouraged to submit applications for a Permanent Resident Travel Document to the visa office responsible for the country where they are currently located (see list of visa offices abroad).

Expiry of Directives

These directives will remain in force until further notice. Further instructions will be communicated as required.
