Internal Audits and Evaluations

Audits

The mission, vision and values described in Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada’s (IRCC) Internal Audit Charter, together with the Treasury Board’s Policy on Internal Audit and directive, provide the fundamental framework for the Department’s audit planning process. IRCC’s audit strategy is outlined in its Risk-Based Audit Plan, which forms the basis for audit activities within the Department.

In accordance with the Policy on Internal Audit, the Department carries out audits based on plans recommended for approval by the Departmental Audit Committee and approved by the Deputy Minister. The objective is to post internal audit reports to IRCC’s Web site within 90 days of the Departmental Audit Committee review and Deputy Minister approval. All publicly released audits are posted on IRCC’s Audits and Reviews page.

Evaluations

IRCC maintains an effective evaluation function to provide the Department with objective, timely and evidence-based findings, conclusions and recommendations on the relevance and performance of programs, policies and initiatives, including conducting evaluations of the grant and contribution programs. The list of planned evaluations below is based on IRCC’s multiyear departmental evaluation plan and is organized according to the IRCC Program Alignment Architecture. The departmental evaluation plan is updated annually and has been developed according to Treasury Board policies and standards. All publicly released evaluations are posted on IRCC’s Program Evaluations page.
