Instructions to IRCC offices in Canada on the elimination of remaining non-online payment options

As of April 1, 2017 all remaining non-online payment options previously accepted at an inland office or a processing centre will be eliminated.

At inland offices and ports of entry

Fees may be paid at a port of entry:

  • in cash (Canadian currency in Canada; Canadian or U.S. currency at ports of entry);
  • with Visa or MasterCard;
  • by money order, traveler’s cheque or certified cheque; or
  • by presenting an IRCC online payment receipt (see Online Payments).

Fees may be paid at an inland office by presenting an IRCC online payment receipt (see Online Payments).

At processing centres

Applications sent to a case processing centre (CPC) must include a fee payment issued:

Other means of payments will not be accepted and the application will be returned to the applicant.

IRCC does not pay service charges for the processing of payments.

For family class cases, all payments must be made to CPC-Mississauga using the processing centre’s procedure. For these cases, Right of permanent residence fee (RPRF) payments should not be accepted at visa offices abroad. Members of the same family applying together can pay all applicable fees on one receipt. When using one receipt, family members must send their application forms in one envelope.
