New instructions for the Immigrant Investor Venture Capital class and reopening of the program

Summary

The new Ministerial Instructions and program delivery instructions for the Immigrant Investor Venture Capital (IIVC) class come into force on May 25, 2015 and apply to IIVC applications received at Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on or after May 25, 2015.

The instructions have been updated to reflect a change in the intake process. Applications will no longer be randomly selected and the intake will be limited to a maximum of 60 complete applications (including any complete applications received in previous intake periods). An additional 60 applications which pass the first stage of completeness may be waitlisted should any of the initial 60 applications become ineligible or be refused during the process.

Intake will remain open under the IIVC class until

  • 60 permanent resident visas or approvals are issued under this class;
  • 60 complete applications have been received and put into processing, and 60 applications that meet the initial completeness check requirements have been retained on the waiting list; or
  • December 30, 2015.
