Rounds of invitations – International Experience Canada

We regularly invite eligible candidates from the IEC pools to apply for a work permit. These are called rounds of invitations.

The number of candidates invited to apply during each round varies. Rounds will take place until there are no more spots available or the IEC season closes.

Schedule for the 2024 season

The numbers on this page are normally updated on Fridays.

2024 IEC season opening

The pools for the 2024 season are now open. If you’re eligible, you can create a profile.

Select your country or territory to find out your chances of receiving an invitation in the next round.

Due to a high number of Working Holiday applications in the queue, we are reducing the number of invitations to apply for the Working Holiday category during the next few rounds. The number of invitations we send will return to normal volumes soon.

Where are you from?

This pool is now open.

The quotas for this country have been re-distributed. This gives applicants a better chance to be invited in their category of choice.

Dates of rounds of invitations

The quota and dates of the first and final rounds of invitations will be updated, as this information becomes available.

We will provide at least five days notice before the final round of invitations.

Several rounds of invitations may take place between the first and last rounds.

If you are in a pool, you could receive an Invitation to Apply any time after the date of the first round of invitations.

During the final round of invitations, we plan to invite enough candidates to meet the quota for the season. Sometimes, a large number of:

  • candidates decline their Invitations to Apply,
  • candidates let their Invitations to Apply expire, or
  • applicants’ work permit applications are refused.

To meet the quota in these cases, we may issue a very small number of Invitations to Apply after the final round takes place.
